Chapter-1 THE TALES OF RUNAWAYS

Trigger warnings- Foul language,  Self harm mentioned if  you find any of these uncomfortable skip this chapter.

It's based on author's imagination.

°°Roshni's Escape°°

In the bustling city of Jaipur, where tradition and modernity coexist in a delicate balance.

Roshni found herself entangled between her  Family's expectations from her as an elder daughter or choice to choose fulfilling her own dreams and self respect.

She was adorned in a bright red bridal lehenga, a garment of exquisite beauty and cultural significance.

Roshni had always been the dutiful daughter, one who honored her family's wishes and upheld their traditions. Yet, as the wedding day approached, so did a growing sense of unease. The expectations of marrying someone chosen for her, a decision made without her heart's consent,

                                  felt like

burdensome chain. Even after she tried to take her own life two times somehow she got saved but the manipulative words of her tauji   shattered her dreams.

Two weeks ago a huge argument breakout in her home living room.

Tauji - Dekho Suresh(Roshni's Father) main bol raha hu bitiya ko abhi aapni zindagi ki samajh nahi hai, ek baar shaadi hojaye phir vo samajh jayegi.

[Look Suresh, I am telling you that your  daughter does not understand her life yet, once she gets married she will understand]

Megha Gupta (Roshni's mom)-

Par meri beti ne apni jaan leni ki koshish ki hai 1 baar nahi 2 baar-

[But my daughter has tried to take her own live not only once but twice-]

Tauji - Enough!! When Men of the house are talking women shouldn't interrupt. Don't you know this basic thing BAHU?

Ghar ke bade bolte hai beech main baat kaatte nahi hai ( Don't interrupt  when elder are talking)

such basic things i have to explain to mother of  two adult daughters.

He shouted at her making her take some steps back and tightened her hold on her husband.

[ Author is rolling her eyes till she finds some sense in this line 🙄]

Suresh - Tauji you  are well respected men of our society and i have always been in debt to you for everything you did for me but... but this, no i can't see my Daughter like this and also...

He was looking down on his feet but a surge of anger rush in his veins

Suresh- Respectable men like you should never treat any woman, including my wife, in such a manner.

This time, he held his head high, meeting his gaze directly.Though his words were spoken softly, their impact was profound.

Tauji clenched his teeth but made an effort to manage his anger.

He placed his hands on his shoulders, reminiscent of a snake slithering into a person's sleeve before striking to assert its presence.

— Beta What I mean is that once she marries into the royal family, fulfilling your father's last wish, she will have everything she ever dreamed of. As a middle-class father, you may not have been able to provide her with everything, so letting her marry will give her all she desires as a daughter-in-law of the Suryavanshi family.

These particular words resonated deeply with Roshni's father, leaving him utterly speechless.

Ishaanvi - Noo that's not true baba ne kabhi bhi hame kisi bhi chij ki kami hone nahi diya, to kya hua tauji agar humare pass jyada paise nahi hai kaam se kaam hum sab khush toh hai sath main hai.

[NO that's not true, my father  never let us lack anything, so what if we don't have much money uncle, at least we are all happy with him.]

As the younger daughter, she stood up for her father while also giving her tauji a much-needed reality check. He lives alone away from his family.

Tauji put on a fake crying expression and said, “I have always wished the best for you, but you should listen to me on this,  once she gets married, she will get over her dreams

She will get over her dreams.

She will get over her dreams.

She will get over her dreams.

She will get over it.

That's what she  have always listen in her  whole life.

Roshni was laying down in her bedroom

with her Dadi (Grandmother) sitting by her side while carrasing her hairs.

Dadi- Meri bacchi mat sun uus nalayak lappu se aadmi ki baat , tu meri pyaari phool si beti hai. Nahi karni shaadi toh mat kar aapna kaam kar jiska letter tujhe aya hai.

[ My child, don't listen to that worthless man's talk, you are my dear daughter. If you don't want to get married then don't, do your work, whose letter has come to you.]

Roshni was silently looking up at the celling and her tears were rolling down from her eyes.

And that was enough to unleash all the anger her Grandmother hidden inside her.

She stoop up carefully and took her walking stick with her and move towards the living room.

As she entered she heard every  sweet venom  that snake was saying to her Son.

Ishaanvi- Give her a chance Baba, let Big sis join her job and maybe after some years she will agreed to marry.

Tauji-  No never. Good alliance will not always knocking our door.

Dadi- Bas bahut hua, No more words in this house i am the eldest and i can't watch my laddu ( Roshni) suffer like this. From now on no more shaadi talks--

Tauji- Amma aap rehne do,  you can't watch Roshni suffer but you can see your son suffering in this marriage all these years huh?

She looked at her son with guilty eyes.

Tauji raised his voice - Twenty-four years ago, your elder son ran away from his wedding while the bride waited at the mandap. You and Baba pressured Suresh to marry her, emphasizing that his refusal would harm your social standing.

Slow claps. 👏

Ishaanvi- Wah wah tauji, Just moments ago you were saying-Don't interrupt  when elder are talking, don't you have a basic manners?

She told him while smirking and looking directly into his eyes.

Tauji blood was boiling and dadi ji just enjoying the show.

Dadi - Ishaanvi is right; it's the responsibility of elders to teach and practice basic manners at home, rather than needing reminders from others.

Ishaanvi- If you establish specific rules under the guise of patriarchy, Tauji, then you should adhere to them as well.

Suresh - Enough ishaanvi you go to your room Now.

Ishaanvi - But baba--

Now!!! He shouted at her.

Tears welled up in her eyes, yet she made an effort to restrain herself.

He turned his attention towards tauji-

Yes i am replaced groom of Megha , yes i wasn't happy with this marriage but now we have overcome all of that and now we love eachother and our kids so please no need to bring up our past it's a request.

Tauji remained quite.

Ishaanvi walked towards her dadi and whispered in her ears - Dada Ji ke cupboard se Rampuri leke aati hu aap  iska rasbarri nikaal do kissa hi khatam ek baar main.

[ I will bring rampuri knife from Grandfather cupboard, finish him off, so that his chapter closed once and for all.

Dadi replied- Neki aur puch puch.

They both looked at eachother while planning and plotting something sinister for Him.

Suresh - Maa please take her  inside, megha go with them.

Megha- Ji , chalo ishaanvi your tournament is coming. go to your boxing club for practice.

Dadi - Ishaanvi my child practice at home today.

She said to her.

Ishaanvi arched her eyebrows, silently asking with her gaze, "How?

Her Grandmother looked at Tauji and smriked at her - Work from home betaaaa~~~~

Ishaanvi- oooo haaan, okay Let's go dadi.

Dadi took her to roshni's room-

I have to do something about this Tauji of yours.

Isshanvi- Haan dadi , i will bring dada's -

Dadi- No no that, he always talk about respect and discipline among the family specially women and daughters huh.

Ishaanvi - Yes and that daughter of his Tina.. too, i hate her she is too copy paste of Tauji.

Dadi was thinking while looking out of the window- Hmmm what if Roshni runaway on the day of her wedding.

Whaat!!!!!- Roshni and Ishaanvi said in one breathe.

Dadi - No i was just guessing like that.

Roshni looked at her Dadi and suddenly her brain clicked.

Roshni saw her sister ishaanvi turning her attention from dadi to her.

Roshni- Ishu tu jaa apne kamre main.

Ishaanvi- No i won't,  what kind of plan you both are thinking huh???

Gooo go now.

Roshni compelled Ishaani to retreat to her room, locked the door, and then deliberately approached her grandmother, who was lost in contemplation.

What are you thinking tell me?

She asked.

Dadi turned towards her and hold her hands in her - Laddu You should runway from your wedding,  i can't make another sacrifice of my child in the name of reputation of family. Go do whatever you want to do.

Roshni- But but baba maa

Dadi- I will handle them.

Roshni- But what if they force Ishu to replace me.

Dadi- I won't allow that to occur. I'll pretend to have a heart attack to protect her. However, before that, I want to test your Tauji to see if he practices what he preaches.

So, now that's how they planned her Runway from her Wedding.

In a moment of clarity, Roshni made the courageous decision to run away from her own wedding. She knew the consequences would be significant, but the thought of living a life dictated by others was a far greater fear. With her heart pounding and determination fueling her every step, she slipped away from the bustling preparations, leaving behind the echoes of celebration.

She gripped her Dada ji's Old car Maruti 800 key in her hands and started the car.

But -

OYE wait for me
